This Disposal Totally ROCKS! (But Not In A Good Way!)

It was unusual for us to hear from a customer needing us so soon after a service call.

The garbage disposal we had just installed a few days before had stopped working. Fortunately, it was under warranty, so one of our White Glove Techs from James Rowe made a return visit.

When we arrived, naturally the first thing we did was to try it at the switch. It buzzed but that was all. We questioned the homeowner as we cut the power to the disposal to have a closer look.

Did she put celery into it? No.

How about coffee grounds? Nope.

Grease? Eggshells? Rice or pasta that swells and clogs it? Wouldn’t think of it!

Any jewelry missing? God forbid!

In fact, she pointed out that she made sure she took her rings off and wore rubber gloves when she cleaned the sink or washed out the aquarium.

Wait… washed out what?

Yes. If you guessed fish aquarium rocks…DING, DING, DING, you are correct!

We gently informed our homeowner that cleaning out her fish aquarium and expecting the disposal to grind up the rocks was above and beyond the capability of even the most state-of-the-art disposal. Luckily, we were able to get all of the rocks out and repair the disposal for her.

Yes, having a garbage disposal installed rocks! But not in THAT way!
