Golden Thinking
Golden Thinking
We all learned the Golden Rule at a young age; “treat others as you would like to be treated.” Sure, it’s something that has been preached to us since we can remember, but how often do people really practice this? The other day I was asked what I believed to be the ‘magic formula’ for success, this age-old phrase immediately came to mind.
As homeowners ourselves, James and I know what it is like to call on companies for home repair services. We have felt the panic that our homeowners have when calling with an emergency, or the frustration of coming home to a broken furnace, or AC, or leak. I think that these experiences have really been able to help us put ourselves in our customers’ shoes.
For this reason, I’m very adamant about following through for our homeowners, whether it is with guarantees, addressing concerns they have about a repair, or even just following up after making a service call. While this may not be what others believe to be the magic formula to success, I have found it is what works for me. The Golden Rule can turn into gold and helps me sleep well at night.
The only thing better than the Golden Rule of “doing unto others as you would have them do unto you”, is the Platinum Rule: “treat others as they would PREFER to be treated!’
But that’s another topic for another day.
